Stephanie's master research was focused on the occurrence of Neotropical river otter (Lontra longicaudis) in the Alexander Skutch Biological Corridor. Her survey included monitoring efforts in two rivers, Peñas Blancas and Peñas Blanquitas; and interviews with local fisherman. Indirect evidence of the presence of this species in the area was confirmed through scats and dens. Camera traps return no results. As result of this study, a baseline mapping of local knowledge/encounters of river otter was developed.
Stephanie graduated with a Master in Environmental Studies from York University in 2016. She volunteers for the Toronto Wildlife Center and WWF Canada.
